BURYCABLE FirePro 450/750V Mica XLPE LSZH cable is designed for fixed installations where project-specific circuit integrity under fire conditions is required. The product range is available with two, three, four or five insulated copper cores. Typical project environments include hospitals, hotels, high-rise buildings, airports, metro facilities, power stations and other critical infrastructure. Each insulated core incorporates a mica glass tape fire barrier beneath the XLPE insulation. The mica layer helps preserve electrical insulation during fire exposure. The LSZH outer sheath helps limit smoke emission and halogen acid gas release during burning. The conductors may be Class 1 solid or Class 2 stranded copper, depending on the selected core size and construction. An optional extruded inner covering may be used around the laid-up cores to provide a practically circular cable assembly. This construction does not include a separate bare copper circuit protective conductor (CPC). Where a protective conductor is required, the core configuration and colour identification must be selected according to the circuit design. The basic cable design is adapted from BS 7211. The applicable edition, fire test method, classification and duration must be confirmed against the project specification and supporting cable test documentation. This is an unarmoured cable intended for fixed installation. Provide additional mechanical protection where required by the installation conditions. Cable supports, joints and terminations should be selected to suit the required fire-resistant wiring system. Select the cable according to voltage rating, number of cores, conductor size, conductor class, installation conditions and project fire performance requirements.
Basic design adapted from BS 7211:2012

FIRE PERFORMANCE NOTE
BS 6387 is applicable to relevant cables
with an overall diameter not exceeding 20 mm.
BS 8491 is applicable to large-diameter
power cables with an overall diameter
greater than 20 mm when used for smoke
and heat control systems or certain other
active fire safety systems.
The appropriate test standard therefore
depends on the cable size and intended use.
IEC 60331-21 is retained only as a legacy
catalogue reference.
The applicable standard edition,
test classification and fire duration
must be confirmed against project requirements
and the relevant cable test report.
A specific CWZ classification,
BS 8491 category or fire duration
must not be assumed from the product name
or the presence of mica tape alone.

SELECTION NOTES
For quotation, provide the number of cores,
conductor cross-sectional area,
conductor class and total cable length.
Confirm whether Class 1 solid
or Class 2 stranded conductors are required.
Provide the required circuit integrity
test standard, classification and duration.
The appropriate test method depends on
the cable overall diameter and intended use.
Confirm whether the selected cable size
falls within the scope of BS 6387
or BS 8491.
Also confirm insulation colours,
sheath colour, installation environment,
packing requirements and delivery destination.
This construction does not contain
a separate bare copper CPC.
Where a protective conductor is required,
select the appropriate insulated core
configuration or provide a separate
protective conductor according to
the installation design.
Outdoor exposure, wet locations,
underground routes and chemical exposure
require separate assessment.
Additional UV, oil, hydrocarbon,
rodent or termite resistance must be
specified and confirmed before supply.
For a fire-resistant wiring system,
assess the cable together with supports,
joints, glands and terminations.

FAQ
How many cores are available?
This product range is available with two,
three, four or five insulated cores.
The required configuration should be selected
according to the circuit design.
Does this cable contain a bare copper CPC?
No. This construction does not include
a separate bare copper CPC.
Where an earth or protective conductor
is required, select a configuration with
an appropriate insulated green/yellow core
or provide a separate protective conductor.
Does every core have a mica fire barrier?
Yes. Mica glass tape is applied as a fire
barrier to each insulated conductor
in this product construction.
The resulting circuit integrity performance
must be supported by the relevant test report.
Are the conductors solid or stranded?
The range includes Class 1 solid
and Class 2 stranded copper conductors.
Availability depends on the conductor size
and selected cable configuration.
Is the inner covering mandatory?
No. An extruded inner covering is optional.
It may be used around the laid-up cores
to provide a more circular cable assembly.
Is this cable armoured?
No. This is an unarmoured LSZH sheathed
fire-resistant cable.
Additional mechanical protection should be
provided where required by the installation.
Does every size comply with BS 6387?
Not automatically.
BS 6387 applies to relevant cables
with an overall diameter not exceeding 20 mm.
Compliance and classification must be verified
against the test report for the selected
cable size.
When is BS 8491 relevant?
BS 8491 applies to power cables
with an overall diameter greater than 20 mm
for specified smoke and heat control systems
and certain other active fire safety systems.
It should only be stated when the cable size,
application and supporting test report
are within the scope of that standard.
Does the cable automatically have a CWZ rating?
No specific CWZ classification or fire duration
should be assumed from the product title
or mica tape construction alone.
The required classification must be verified
against the relevant cable test report.
Is LSZH performance the same as fire resistance?
No.
LSZH performance concerns smoke
and halogen-related emissions during burning.
Fire resistance concerns maintaining
electrical circuit integrity under
defined fire test conditions.
Can this cable be used for emergency circuits?
It may be considered where its documented
fire performance matches the circuit
and installation requirements.
The complete wiring system, including
supports, joints, glands and terminations,
must also be suitable for the required duty.
Can this cable be installed outdoors
or underground?
Do not assume unrestricted outdoor
or direct-burial suitability.
The sheath properties, exposure conditions
and installation protection must be assessed
for the individual project.
How do I request a quotation from BURYCABLE?
Send the voltage rating, number of cores,
conductor size, conductor class,
cable length and required fire performance.
Include the installation environment,
colour requirements, packing details
and delivery destination.
